Even the best of jet ski riders can flip or fall from their ski. Getting back on can be a bit tricky.
Two things to remember when reboarding a jet ski are:
1. Never reboard a jet ski from the side. They were not designed for this and your weight can pull the ski over on you and flip it.
2. The driver boards first and then the passengers. It is difficult to switch places on a floating ski.
How To Reboard A Jet Ski
Many modern jet skis have a boarding step to aid in boarding. If yours does not you can either get one or attach one of the generic boarding ladders available for jet skis.
- Always board a jet ski from the back boarding platform.
- Pull down the boarding step or ladder if your ski has one.
- Reach up and grab the boarding handle located at the rear of the seat.
- Pull up until you can place a knee or foot on the skis boarding platform.
- If there is no boarding step or ladder, place one hand on the boarding handle and one on the platform and kick. This will propel you up in the water and you will be able to pull yourself onto the platform.
- Pull yourself onto the boarding platform and carefully get up and onto the seat. The ski will be unstable and rock, but if you move carefully and keep your balance, you will be fine.
When all passengers are on board, put the lanyard to the post and hopefully, the ski will start.
