Winterization checklist for cold storage

An hour in fall saves a starter, a battery, and a seat cover in spring.

  1. Stabilize fuel. Fill to 3/4, add marine stabilizer, run 3–5 minutes on the hose so it reaches injectors.
  2. Flush + fog. Flush per manual, then fog cylinders if your manual calls for it. Don't skip the intercooler drain on supercharged models.
  3. Change oil (4-stroke). Old oil holds acids. Change filter too; log hours.
  4. Battery out. Remove, clean terminals, store on a maintainer — not on concrete lore, just somewhere dry and charged monthly.
  5. Dry everything. Remove drain plugs for storage, tilt trailer nose-up, pull mats, crack the seat, add moisture absorber.
  6. Cover + critters. Breathable cover, exhaust and intake taped with a reminder tag, steel wool in the trailer exhaust tip only if mice are an issue.
Label every plug you pull with painter's tape. Spring-you will forget.
